At the time of your Schengen visa application to submit proof of documents for a successful application is mandatory. One of those documents that authenticate your stay for the country you were applying for will demand you to show the proof of where your stay going to be. The visa officer will demand or would like to verify your accommodation document of your visa application before they make a decision on your Schengen visa grant.

There are few documents that you may submit at least one of the following

a) Proof of Hotel Booking like copy of the Hotel details with your names on it.

b) In case you were invited to travel to schengen country, attach the document of invitation with the copy of the invitee details.

c) In case you have booked your travel with a travel operator, provide evidence of your payment to him.

So as a foreign visa applicant, ensure you provide accommodation details as per EC no. 810/2009 Visa code.

You might want to go on a trekking or have arranged for a Van stay for your travelling while in schengen area. In such events it is advisable to go with dummy hotel booking to show as the proof of your hotel stay. This won’t cost you anything as you will just book the hotel plan without paying for it in advance. As you now know, that to prove your Van or Tent stay won’t be possible with any proof.

However some hotel might demand you to fill a form to issue you with a hotel booking with minimal fee to show it in your visa application.

There are few ways to get your hotel reservation getting done without actually paying for it. Either you may pay minimal fee to get it genuinely from a hotel staff or to through the agency for a dummy booking.

The ways to get hotel booking is genuinely booking it, by going to Visa-Reservation and book your rooms, pay for it and the confirmation of your booking to submit in the visa form.

Print the hotel booking from the email after your payment to the hotel and show at the time of visa interview. It is always recommendable to get hand written hotel reservation via email to submit from their hotel letterhead booking. This is the best way to prove you have had a real hotel booking.

Upon genuine confirmation of hotel booking, a valid reference number will be generated by the hotel for which you will be verified by the visa officer confirming that number with the hotel later on.

This is to avoid any fraudulent visa booking you need to be truthful if not it will lead to visa rejection.

In case your stay is going to be in a place provided by sponsorship, then provide the letter of your accommodation attested by local officer or from the town hall.
